Together We Change Lives

As this financial year comes to an end, we want to take this chance to say an enormous ‘thank you’ to every one of you amazing supporters in our eczema community for sharing stories, conversation and connection. As a community, we have achieved so much, and we truly value your contribution in achieving our goals.

Despite the lockdowns and limitations of Covid-19, Eczema Support Australia is proud of all we have accomplished this period. In line with our three pillars, a few of our major accomplishments this period:

CONNECT

We have successfully grown and developed our social media groups. It brings us great joy to welcome every new member into our community, to connect and inspire conversations about living with eczema. Connecting with others that truly understand can help in our situations that can sometimes feel very isolating. Together we are stronger!

We have also been fortunate to connect with our health sector colleagues and organisations to ensure our eczema community is able to build the support services we need.

INFORM

This year, we rolled out our Eczema School Kits and our Eczema eLearning course for Educators to childcare centres and schools across Australia with an overwhelmingly positive response. “’I’ve taught students with severe eczema and hated not knowing what to do for them.’ Thank you (for this Eczema School Kit).”

We were privileged to work with Dr Justin Coulson, PhD (parenting expert and co-host of Channel Nine’s Parental Guidance) and Dr Lauren Kunde (dermatologist) on a very special video series; Practical Parenting for Eczema Families.

We continue to build our Eczema Resource Library in collaboration with The Australasian College of Dermatologists covering an array of eczema topics. We now have 20 in total with more in the pipeline!

ADVOCATE

World Atopic Eczema Day 2021 was a huge success, we received more than 100 comments and videos from our members sharing stories. Thank you to everyone for having the courage to share your experiences, watch the video here.

In addition to our public advocacy work, we have been active behind the scenes in sharing our stories in the media, presenting at conferences and advocating for more support and understanding for our eczema community.

We are so proud of what we have achieved and thank you for being part of the journey.

As we start to look ahead and plan for a new financial year ahead, a key priority will be growing our Member Psychology Referral Program. In this program, we subsidise counselling sessions for adults, teens and families living with eczema, providing support to reduce the burden of life with this debilitating condition. Plans are already under way to secure financial aid to support this program as well as a fundraising campaign through our social media channels. We will share more information in the coming months.

Eczema Support Australia is a registered charity, we rely on generous donations from our loyal members and supporters. As the financial year comes to an end on 30 June, if you are looking for a way to reduce your taxable income or would simply like to make a tax deductible donation to support the work we do, please click to donate. A tax receipt will be sent to your email.

We care. We listen. We understand. We act.
